Frequently Asked Questions

Below you will find the most common questions asked in advance of community recycling events. If your question is not answered below, please feel free to E-Mail Us and we will be glad to answer your questions!

What items do you accept at the events?

Our complete listing of accepted items, items we cannot accept, and items that have an environmental handling fee associated with them can be found here.

Is my data safe? What happens with my data?

Data security is our top priority. Hard drives and data-bearing devices collected at the event are transported to our secure facility and stored in a locked, alarm-protected safe with controlled access. During processing, we remove the device's control board, which does not contain any personal data and only helps the device function. Your data is stored on the internal storage media, which is ultimately shredded and destroyed through our certified downstream recycling partners, making the data permanently unrecoverable.

What happens with the recycled items?

Each item received at our recycling events is carefully evaluated. Whenever possible, items are refurbished using new or quality used components, restored to working condition, and resold for continued use. When an item can no longer serve a useful purpose, or the cost to refurbish it exceeds its market value, it is responsibly recycled. These items are disassembled and separated by material type. The recovered materials are then sent to downstream recycling partners, who further process them into raw materials that can be used to manufacture new products. Most consumer electronics collected at recycling events are ultimately recycled, as they are frequently at the end of their useful life when they are brought in for disposal.

Do you use responsible practices for recycling?

At Enterprise Asset Solutions, we believe recycling is about more than properly disposing of electronics. It's about protecting our environment and preserving valuable resources for future generations. For more than 20 years, we've partnered with trusted, industry-leading downstream vendors to maximize reuse and material recovery. As a result, more than 99% of the material we process is reused or recycled. A small percentage of materials, such as certain adhesives, foams, labels, and non-recyclable plastics, cannot currently be recovered through available recycling technologies. These materials account for less than 1% of the products we process. We continuously work with our partners to identify new recycling solutions and further reduce waste, keeping as much material as possible out of landfills and in the circular economy.

Can I remove my hard drive before recycling?

Absolutely! You are welcome to remove and retain your hard drive before recycling your computer. We do ask that you remove the drive before attending the event, as these events are fast paced, high volume events, and we want to make sure that everyone can move through the drop off areas quickly and efficiently.

Can Businesses Participate?

Yes! We welcome both residential and commercial participants, however if you have a large volumes of equipment to recycle, we may partner with you to pick them up on a separate occasion, so that all members of the community can recycle at this event.  If we have previously committed a portion of proceeds to the organization co-sponsoring the event with us, we will still contribute proceeds from your equipment too!

What if the event reaches capacity?

Acceptance of items is subject to available capacity. Some communities have never held one of these events, and turnout ends up greater than expected.  If the event exceeds available capacity, we will work with the organization co-sponsoring the event to either hold an additional event, or make accommodations to return for additional items still needing recycled.

Why should I recycle my electronics?

Electronics contain valuable materials that can be recovered and reused. Recycling helps conserve natural resources, keeps potentially harmful materials out of landfills, and supports a more sustainable future.

What should I do before bringing my items?

If possible, remove any personal information, sign out of accounts, and remove any equipment you wish to keep.

I am unable to transport the items to the event myself, can you come to me to pick them up?

Need help getting your items to the event? Visit us at the event for information about our pickup services. Our standard pickup fee is $25 within 30 miles of Omaha, with additional mileage charges applying outside that area. Please note that we are unable to perform pickups on event day, as our team is dedicated to assisting event participants. Some event sponsors may offer volunteers or transportation assistance; however, Enterprise Asset Solutions is not responsible for the actions of third-party individuals or organizations. For safety and liability reasons, our staff cannot enter private residences. Items should be placed in a garage or other accessible location outside of the home for pickup.
